Participate in the Life Of The Church Online
We are taking the lessons we learned in the pandemic along with us. And that includes a fully accommodating worshiping community that is accessible online. If you are interested in engaging with our community and viewing videos of sermons, or other videos we make for the internet, you may enjoy the following links:
"All Y'all" Means EVERYBODY
Following Christ's explicit command to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, and imitating the spirit of the New Testament Disciples who strove to bring Good News to every tribe and tongue and nation without distinction or prejudice. We welcome everyone at this church.
That's not code. We’re blessed to have members and leaders from the LGBTQ+ community among us, but it doesn’t end there. We’re also striving to remove barriers to inclusion for people of every age, race, culture, gender and ability level. We believe that neurodivergent people enrich a worshiping community by their presence and perspective. And we welcome a diversity of viewpoints, theologies and beliefs into our conversation and worship of Jesus Christ.
We are not perfect, so messy and broken people are certainly welcome. But that also means that our efforts to include everyone sometimes fall short. If you visit us and have any suggestions on how we can improve, or notice any ways we may be alienating people without being aware of it. Please let us know. We only get better together
Meet Pastor Ryan
Ryan knew God was calling him into ministry beginning in High School. He spent years as a youth minister in sunny southern California before transitioning to college ministry at Kansas State University (GO Wildcats!) and then moved again to attend Seminary locally at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He married Tiffany, who he had first met in Kansas and together they left town to pastor a church in Orlando, Florida where they welcomed yet another member into the family, their daughter Lydia.
Now that they are back in the Lone Star State, they have purchased their first home, and settled in for the long haul with Saint John’s in the city and region where all three of them feel they belong.
When Ryan is not pastoring, he loves visiting the movie theater, floating the San Marcos River, and getting better at home maintenance.
What We Believe
As a member church of the PCUSA our doctrine isn't any kind of a secret. We belong to the reformed stream of theology that understands humans (and churches) as essentially broken, but able to get better and better with God's help. Rather than reinvent the wheel, we prefer to confess with the same words that the church has used for millennia:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Need Directions?
If you are on a journey, whether spiritual or otherwise, you might need a hand sometimes. We're here to help.
The Church is everywhere, but if you're trying to find our building, we admit that since we are blessed to sit on 16 acres of mostly undeveloped, beautiful forest land, we can sometimes be hard to spot! We are in the little building with the steeple right between the belltower and the baseball field. You will find us just off 1626 between Brodie and Hewitt. Take the Onion Creek exit from 35 and find us. Or if you prefer a more technological route

“Outside sunrise service on Easter, bluebonnets in the spring, Sunday lunches together, parishioners take part in the service, the bell tower, everyone knows your name!
“I like that St. John's is a church full of grace, filled with caring people. I like that it is minutes away from my grandchildren and they attend the Sunday service almost every week. ”
